The preparations for the second edition of the MADE OF METAL festival, which takes place in the South-Moravian city of Hodonín, are in full swing.
The hosts have already revealed the festival’s most famous performers. At the post headliner post, it will feature the Dutch band EPICA. The remaining two evenings will belong to the Finnish AMORPHIS and the Austrian BELPHEGOR with their annual shows! In co-headliner positions, the fans will be treated to a quality selection from the field of melodic metal – FINNTROLL, TRISTANIA, FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE, TURISAS, DRACONIAN and TÝR. Over the three days starting August 14th, the festival’s two stages will be populated with 43 bands from 16 different countries. The full schedule of the festival should be published mid-April, until then, we can hold our breath and get ready to learn about the last four bands, one of which is promised to be an addition to the main stage.
“This year’s top spot will be held by Holland’s Epica, we are very humbled to welcome them in Hodonín,” begins Lenka Grauová from the agency behind the festival, Growling Lion.”The rest of the main positions will be filled by Amorphis and Belphegor, along with a multitude of co-headliners (Finntroll, Tristania, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Turisas, Draconian and Týr), who are not unfamiliar to the Czech audience, yet they don’t get invited here very frequently. When assembling the cast, we’ve tried our best to listen to our fans, which led to the inclusion of some heavier bands, while still keeping the melodic and symphonic vibe. We’ve also continued to pick out the brightest young talents from all of Europe,” adds Grauová.
The fact that the organisers aren’t straying from the original direction and plan to bring in more fresh facesfor the Czech Republic is evidenced by some of the other promised bands. Examples include Gloryhammer, Månegarm, Diabulus in Musica and StormWarrior, who already have growing fan bases in the Czech Republic, but also Twilight Force, Whyzdom, Fogalord or Wind Rose, who will be visiting the Czech Republic for the very first time. “We are confident that we’ve succeeded in raising the bar with this year’s schedule, whether you look at the performers’ popularity, the width of the genre spectrum or the introduction of quality bands which might be new to a Czech listener,” states Grauová. There will also be changes to the schedule’s arrangement, which, at the cost of reducing the number of performers, has enabled alternation between the two stages, so that our attendees don’t have to miss out on any of the shows.
The organizers also promise improvements to the venue and the camping system, more merchandise, and other goodies in the area. “We hold our fans very dear and we only want the best for them, we believe that we’ll manage to put some of last year’s shortcomings right and gradually develop the festival towards more comfort, while still maintaining its friendly atmosphere,”
. To preserve the festival’s casualness and intimacy, the hosts plan to limit the maximum capacity at 6000 visitors. At the present, roughly a third of the tickets has been sold out and the interest in them is growing. Nobody who is serious about heavy music should miss this, so if you wish to secure yourself a spot at MADE OF METAL 2015
