First I would like to thank you for the opportunity for this interview for Croatia Metal And Rock net, in hope that your next concert in Croatia will be a memorable one. How did you like so far our small country?
We had fun the last time we were in Opatija, and we are looking forward to our next show in Croatia.
You'll be preforming in Zagreb, two weeks after release of your new album "Unstoppable Momentum", what details can you reveal to us? What kind of experience can we expect?
We will perform most of our new material plus fan favorite songs from my catalog.
How did to whole writing/recording process went this time? I presume (right or false) as you've been in this business so long, organizing all comes pretty much naturally?
It is always intense and cathartic to write a new album's worth of songs, but I enjoy the process.
"Unstoppable Momentum" will be released in a few interesting limited editions and most interesting "Ultimate music + bundle" that includes your 98-page art book. How long ago first "oddly friend drawn" came to life? Are they representation of people you meet or purely fictional characters?
I think most of them are self portraits! My imagination runs wild most of the time, so, it's good to put it to good use with these drawings.
Also there's talk of retrospective box set, which should be released in the spring. Is there any notion what we can expect from it? Or in it?
John Cuniberti has been re-mastering the entire catalog for the past 12 months and it all sounds amazing. We hope to have it ready by the end of the year.
I was asked by a friend musician, who owns a Ibanez JS series guitar, to inquire is your guitar same as the ones that can be bought or you put something of your own in them?
They are the same.
Although it's been 3 years from your last solo album, Joe Satriani is always busy. How difficult is to combine Chickenfoot with solo career and other band members?
Chickenfoot doesn't tour that much, so, there is always plenty of time for my solo stuff.
Number of people with whom you worked all those years is incredible! Who did make best impression on you so far?
Jon Lord was such an impressive musician, performer and human being. I miss him very much.
Playing instrumental rock concerts usually is meant for a chosen crowd. Do people nowadays appreciate more the virtuosity of guitar playing than they did when you started?
I think there is always an audience that enjoys virtuosity and true musicianship. All around the world real music is supported and loved.
Are there any new young guitarists in the States that we should check?
Is there anything special you would like to say to you fans in Croatia? Any words of wisdom?
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!
