Hello guys and thank you for giving us the opportunity to talk to you. Here are some questions we prepared for you.
First of all, could you tell us something about the band members and the band name to introduce yourselves to the Croatian listeners?
John Calabrese: Danko Jones is a Canadian rock band from Toronto, Ontario. The band consists of Danko Jones (vocals/guitar), John 'JC' Calabrese (bass guitar) and Rich Knox (drums).
Who inspires you and your music?
John Calabrese: It's a love affair with hard rock music really. Bands from Motorhead to Kiss, Bad Brains to AC/DC, and all bands that pay respect to rock 'n' roll.
Why did you name your last album Wild Cat?
John Calabrese: It was one of the titles of the songs on the album. The artitst doing the cover, made the cover because he liked the name of that song. So we called it 'Wild Cat'. No deep meaning, just a cool title and a cool cover for the album.
How is it different from your previous albums?
John Calabrese: It's the first album we record in the same studios and work with the same producer and prodciton team. But it is still hard rock.
Do you like cats as pets? Or do you prefer wild cats?
John Calabrese: I like dogs and wolves.
You recently changed record labels, why?
John Calabrese: WE have been working with BadTaste Records since our start, and they are still involved with AFM. So more then a change it is a joining of forces really.
Which bands do the band members listen to?
John Calabrese: Lots to list really, everything from Motörhead, Run the Jewels to Ryan Adams to Doomriders, Hatebreed, Kool Keith, Giuda, Bob Marley, Childish Gambino, Mars Red Sky, Robyn, Lykke LI, Lita Ford... We love all music pretty much.
Which bands have influenced you both personally and professionally?
John Calabrese: A band that has influenced us personally and professionally is Motörhead. We were lucky to have been on the road with them, and were treated graciously by all the guys. They are an incredible band who everyone should be listening to still.
What can we expect from you in the future?
John Calabrese: We hope to come to Croatia more!
In your career you've made several European tours, do you like to play in Europe? In which ways is it different compared to playing in USA and Canada?
John Calabrese: The distances between european ciites is much shorter then driving across Canada. There is a bigger popoulation and there are a lot of more music festivals to play.
Have you ever been to Croatia on a vacation or on a business trip?
John Calabrese: Never been, looking forward to it.
What plans do you have for your concert during INmusic festival in Zagreb? From which of your albums is there going to be the most of songs?
John Calabrese: We'll be perfoming songs from all our records, with a focus on „Wild Cat“.
