First, thank you for taking the time to do this interview. How are you?
OK. Neck isn’t totally recovered, but it works.
Tour starts very soon. How are the preparations going?
We are into the tour now and things go well, even though we had some issues with the tour bus catching fire, a burgler that aI caught in the bus and some other things.
On March 5th you will play in Zagreb, which will be your third visit to Croatia and first after 10 years. Are you looking forward seeing your Croatian fans after quite a long time?
Of course, it will be great coming back.
Your new album, actually a metal opera will come out on February 9th. It will truly be a masterpiece. It includes almost 30 vocalists, right?

You started writing an opera 15 years ago but stopped at some point. What made you start over?
Because I had the idea of making a Therion opera instead of a classical opera.
Please, tell our readers how did the writing proces for this new metal opera go? How difficult it is to write such a huge musical piece?
It’s of course hard to write such an extensive piece in it self due to it’s lenght, but the main challenge is to write music that suite with each scene. Many scenes require music that is quite far away from what we normally would write.
I really like the title of an opera. Can you explain why you've chose this title?
We wanted a title that would be memorable, catchy and also render some attention. Antichrist is a very popular ruler in the opera and even after he is revealed, half of mankind still choose to follow him. The title is in a way refering to that.
I've read that a theatric perfomance of this opera is planned. When can we expect to see it in theater?
Earliest end of the year.
It seems that rock/metal operas and conceptual albums are sort of trend lately. What's your opinion about that?
No opinion really, everyone should do what they want to do.
It's been 6 years since your last album came out. Why such a long pause between the albums?
Because we wrote 4 hours and recorded 3,5 hours of music (only 3 hours made it to the final release).
When you look back at all of your albums, which one do you think is the best? Which one is your favorite? Is it even possible to pick?
I like them for different reasons. I can’t say anyone is my perticular favourite.
Will you play some of the songs from Beloved Antichrist on this tour? If yes, which ones?
Of course. Bring Her Home, Antichrist Theme, Night Reborn, Temple of New Jerusalem and My Voyage Carries On.
Tell me how do you prepare for the shows? What do you do on a show day and moments before you hit the stage? Do you have any rituals or something like that?
We put on stage clothes and then go on stage. Singers warm up a bit and put on make up. Vidal also warm up a bit. Rest of us just go. Nothing perticular.
And the last question. Do you have a message for your Croatian fans and readers of Perun.hr portal?
Hope to see as many as possible at the show in Zagreb. It will be a night to remember.
